Go Bella go 2/29/12 Happy leap year!

Some updated pics. Might have a small infected area near the front of the incision site. It is pretty red & painful when touched. Dr Hemley notified & said she placed some specific suture there to prevent the incision from splitting as her head grows. We shall see. We don't need anything else to add to the stack of problems to be fixed.

Bella continues to grow!

Updated pictures. Up to 4 lbs 8 ounces. She did very well on wet breast again- suckled for 20 mins. Nurse checked what she actually had in her stomach & it was less than 10cc, so with what they normally give her (40cc) over 30 mins, she woulda had to nurse for 80 mins. But if u think about it her body & brain wouldn't have been ready to do this for 5 more weeks or so, so great job Bella & mama!

Bella up to 4 pounds 6 ounces!

Grow Bella grow! Mom got info last night from the NNP that only one side of Bella's ventricles is slightly enlarged, otherwise appears equal to last head ultrasound. Lab tests look better so she is progressing....now, if we can just get the house ready for her to come home to clean air environment.

Waiting..…

Bella's head US was done today. We only hear "possibly worse" from the nurses, yet no Doc saw us. Something about waiting for the Neurosurgeon to see it before receiving the info. So we wait....
In the meantime dad is dragging butt trying to keep up in work projects, staffing, & putting out fires. Ally appears to be trying to grow up too fast.
Abby is having trouble keeping up on her very cluttery room, but we had fun attempting a "tornado in a jar" experiment.
Dallin boy had fun at school and the at grandmas today. Dad came home in time to receive girls off bus & then on to start dinner & fold laundry that I started early this am. Wow busy times!
Bella's so great she let me hold & bottle feed her & she did well woo- hoo. Bella! She is so calm. Such a good child this far out. We love you Bella Grace!

Big brother gets to hold Bella!

Yep. Dallin finally got to hold her & of course didn't want to give her up, so after 30 mins it was time to let Daddy hold her.
She's doing good. Just need to keep growing & pray the temporary shunt holds out & her brain can learn to reabsorb the excess CSF by itself.
Love you Bella!

Yay Bella! + update on house project

Bella had her first real "wet-breast" today & was very successful! Good job Bella.
She also had a mini photo shoot from her Aunt Heather. She was a little doll & did great.
Bella has also gained weight tonight after not gaining any for a day. So she is up another 40 grams tonight which is equivalent to about 1.4 ounces. Go Bella!
We also had the help of a couple great friends in respirator masks today in removing the majority of the moldy drywall in our basement. We had some major help from Tyson & Josh from Servicemaster & are grateful for them & their service! Also a big thanks to those who have spent countless hours with our other children as we try to complete this project-one more wipe down, then time to put the new drywall up, then more work. I will keep you posted.
Obviously we are getting down to crunch time the quicker Bella progresses & she is doing a fine job so we gotta gotta get our butts into a higher gear!

Shes going great.

Little Bella let her daddy hold her & nipple her with use of the bottle & nipple! Yay Daddy!
What s great Bella! So so beautiful.

Update 2/23/2012

Bella tolerated bottle nipple evaluation well today. Looking good! She's up to. 4lbs 4ounces! Go go Bella!

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Yay! Major Milestone!

Bella reached the four pound mark tonight! Yes! Way to grow little Bella Bird

Update on head ultrasound

Docs said ventricles looking slightly larger, but clot is getting smaller so what can we say. Neurosurgeon out of town to give us definite answer. Praying for no long term shunt.
Otherwise Bella hanging in there tolerating feedings fine. Occupational therapist or whomever does nipple evaluation said Bella needs a little more time. Been dry-breasting at least once a day & Bella does ok, however lasts short periods. Obviously feeding & actually staying awake long enough to take enough in is a big part of bringing her home. So continue the prayers & thank you so much.

ALMOST!

Bella's weighing in at a whopping 3 lbs 15.5 ounces tonite. Sweet. She's acting more awake with cares now so we struggle as parents not being there for those times but as most of you know we cannot clone ourselves & we have a lot to do between work, church, & the balance with the other kiddos. Stress???? Nah! You kiddin me?

Yay Bella!

3 lbs 14.8 ounces! Woo-hoo

It Snowed in GJ! Bella update.

It snowed today Bella-well a Grand Junction snow anyways....

Bella continues to grow & do well. Abby got to hold her tonight & both were so happy!

A couple good friends had dinner with us tonight-Elder Harding & Elder Southworth. They shared a great message about Faith @ miracles. Of course our faith has increased thru our recent experiences & we are so happy to have the sweet little addition to our family. We are so grateful to all that have helped us & prayed for us! Thank you all so much.

This little girl has been through so much & most recently was taken off of a few medications: her cherry coke :~)
aldactazide, & pulmicort. She is doing well on low flow oxygen: the nurses only have to adjust it depending on what Bella is doing. We hear she is a "night-owl" & will be awake & content frequently at night- guess mama will have to start sleeping more during the daytime!

Bella is the equivalent of 34 weeks today & we are very pleased with her progress. So many thanks to the docs, nps, & nurses who care for her! We pray for you to be inspired on how best to treat our little Bella.
We continue to try to figure out how best to clean up the mold mess in the basement. I cut some other small sections of drywall out of the laundry room and found it on the three walls (1 wall is concrete) so now we just gotta create the negative pressure space downstairs, borrow an air scrubber,& get the project organized! Down to less than 2 months before we can bring her home....

Farewell dear friend Elder Harding: Safe travels to you & a very successful rest of your mission.

Busy day for Price family!

Bella progressing well. Even Ally got to hold her today as Bella was doing so well.
Dallin had a busy day that started out building/painting a bird house, then playing with his friend Tyson & now he's wiped out.
Ally attended a birthday party at the OM swimming pool. Abby got to hang out with mom & aunt beebs.
All is well except a couple sniffles & coughs but overall happy & feeling so blessed!

Late update 2-17-2012

Mommy & Daddy able to visit with Bella a long while after a short date. We got to help with 9pm cares & see that Bella gained 20 grams meaning she is now up to 3 pounds 11.3 ounces! Yippee!
We also had the chance to watch her working on her suck reflex as she goes to town on her paci! Woo-hoo. It's coming together, just in the Lord's good time. Patience, patience.

Update 2-16-2012

No new big news. Bella continues to grow & is now on "low-flow" cannula. They are trying to find the right flow or oxygen percentage now & the cannula is a bit softer so Bella could actually inadvertently remove it from her nares.

Here's some pictures of her new digs & her happy affect. :~)

Bella graduated!

Yay, Bella has graduated from the isollette to a crib & she's up to 3lbs 10ozs. The eye exam was "no change" compared to last week which is also good news. So next eye exam is scheduled in 2 weeks! YES! Go Bella.

The picture attached today was the best one we could get today cause she was a little fussy from the eye exam & she really didn't want to open her eyes. Of course not who would after that experience.

Ok ... Well we are so thankful to Heavenly Father for this blessing & know he is running the show-so please please don't forget to thank Him in your prayers, not just to ask, ok I'm off the soap box. Thank you all!

Happy Valentines Day!

Yay Bella!

Daddy got to help with the noon bath, but mommy did most of it. But Bella able to give valentines to her nurses & doctors & nurse practitioners today to help make their day special. Oh yeah & she gave a valentine to a couple special friends in the NICU.

Weight check up to 3 lbs 9 ozs tonight.

Go Bella!

Let's pray for an improved eye exam tomorrow! & Bella is down to just 1 liter of oxygen today!

Progression @ 9 weeks old

Happy Bella down to 2 liters of O2 on the high flow cannula.

She's so beautiful, reminds me a lot of her mother.

Good night Bella!

Happy calendar two month day Bella!

Yep 2 months today by date. Funny how tomorrow's she will actually be 9 weeks old, my how time flys!

Last weight calculation a little off but she's still 3 lbs 6 ozs. Grew a little, like a third of an ounce. I think night shift RN was a bit busy with all the kiddos she was caring for & might have misinterpreted the grams to pounds & ounces. But no matter we are happy she continues to grow!

Bella's got a goal list, or homework list if I may. I've attached a picture. She's doing well on weaning down the O2, but we are most focused on her eyes healing now. So we will continue to pray for & have positive thoughts for those baby blue eyes to develop fully. Go Bella grow!

Friday, February 10, 2012

WOW!

Just spoke to Bella's night nurse & she's up in weight another 2 ounces tonight! Woo-hoo! Go Bella! A whopping 3 lbs 8 ozs! She has doubled her birth weight.

Continuing to grow!

Bella is still plugging along. Up to 3 lbs, 6 ounces as of late last night.
She has had a good day. The nurses have switched her OG tube to an NG tube so nothing is blocking her from the dry breast feeding to start with. I forgot the camera phone to be able to add a picture right now as I am logged onto the blogsite with our actual computer! Wow, huh?

Just wanted to make sure we posted an update. Our life continues to be so busy!
We have a lot to do to our home before we can bring her home so we are trying to manage our time wisely & get those things accomplished while still participating in wholesome family activities.

Granny got a much needed break this weekend and traveled over to Great's in Springville. She has done such an amazing job helping us. Thank you GRAN!
Grandma has been helping out too and we thank her also! We want to thank all others who have helped us and most especially for all your prayers, thoughts, & well wishes.

Thank you THANK YOU!

Whoops got a cute picture up of Brlla in her "thinking" mode, well with her eyes closed anyways.

Got some shots today!

Bella got three immunizations today!
They like to keep close eyes on her for 48 hrs to make sure nothing happens. She's been whimpering a bit tonight for her nurse but otherwise cuddled.

Bella also did well being held & during dry breast-time. So we are pretty stoked. Head ultrasound ok: ventricles are the size they should be & shunt appears to be working.

We thank the good Lord every chance we can knowing that His hands have played a major role in her healing process.

Gaining weight!

Bella is up to 3 lbs 5 ozs!!!!

Yee-Haw!

Here's some new pics after a blessing given to her from two Elders in our church. What an amazing thing the priesthood, to have it in our lives. And to be able to utilize this power to bless others in our lives.

Enjoy the pics! Thanks uncle Jimmy!

Bellas eyes & update

Well we are still at a "stage 2 with some progression" on her eye exam so we will continue to pray that they develop & heal on their own. The eye doc is very conservative with her diagnosing & at this point Bella will continue to have eye exams every week.
Little Bella is so beautiful & her sisters & brother pray everyday that she will continue to heal & be able to come home soon. Trouble is home isn't ready yet. Yep, we are still trying to get the mold situation worked out & cleaned up so we can get Ally & Abby moved downstairs so we can get Bella's room ready. We also have some other plans to make a switch-a-roo with bedrooms but as u all know that takes time & money. Oh yeah, the desire is clearly there. So right now we plug along & try our best & thank Heavenly Father for all our numerous blessings.
