Poor Bella Grace! She has been having very frequent poopy diapers with blood in them. We had to collect some of this very stinky stuff so that the doctor could run a panal of tests. You would think that because she is pooping every 30 minutes or so this wouldn't be too hard. Well, I have to give credit to Huggies and Pampers, when they say they are super absorbent they mean it. Those diapers suck all liquid safely out of reach of those trying to collect samples from it. The saran wrap and duct tape did work somewhat. I felt more like I was pushing liquid around on plastic then scooping any to put in the jar.
Ok, now that you have had too much information about Bella's bottom, I will say that her tests came back normal. Good news and yet bad news. Good because she doesn't have an infection, bad because she is still having bloody stools. The doctor has decided to take her off the Zantac for reflux since it can cause diarrhea. I have limited my dairy in case it is a milk protein allergy that she is dealing with.
In other areas of Bella's anatomy, her head looks great. She is somewhat lopsided because of the huge pocket of fluid around the shunt. But we like that huge pocket of fluid because it means the shunt is working. We have another head ultrasound on Weds as well as an appointment with the neurosurgeon. Her weight yesterday was 7lbs 6.5oz. She came home from the hospital on 1/32 liter of O2 but we bumped it back up to 1/16 because she seemed to be struggling a little but we are going to try to wean her back down on Monday if she seems to be feeling better. She also has her first visit with the Early Intervention program on Tuesday of next week.
Never a dull moment in the Price family. Abigail came home from school with a tummy ache today (a cookie and the couch seem like good medicine). Matt's back is acting up and they aren't sure what is wrong with it. He also has a surgery scheduled for tomorrow to fix an umbilical hernia, poor guy. Other then being chronically tired the rest of us are doing pretty good. Ally has a birthday coming up next week and Dallin gets registered for Kindergarten today (he is very excited)!
